We recently celebrated the 12 year anniversary of Science Warehouse by an evening of go karting held at the PRO-AM outdoor karting arena at Yorkshire's longest and fastest corporate kart circuit. The evening saw 40 staff members go head to head on a 700 metre circuit in 320cc Twin Engine Pro Karts with a speed capable of over 50mph.
Being one of the newest members in house I had a fabulous experience on the track with the Science Warehouse team. I felt like an integral part of the Science Warehouse family and appreciated the opportunity to spend quality time with my colleagues.
The greatest aspect of these type of events is it brings everyone on the same track and just like the office which is open plan, everyone right from the founders, directors to the junior level members are open minded and down to earth. I feel proud to be a part of the Science warehouse team.
Andrew Jones, organiser and Web Applications Developer at Science Warehouse, added “Despite the initial forecast for rain, the evening was dry for the 2 hour endurance
race with 10 teams taking part. The qualifying round saw a number of drivers gracefully pirouetting as they found their feet on the circuit. Liam Mitchell somehow found his way through the mayhem to take that all important pole position.
The race revealed everyone’s inner competitive side and the competition was fierce. Every driver bar one, Jess Rhodes, received a black flag and a few words of warning. The surprise of the evening was Rebecca Raine, slightly sceptical and a little nervous initially but by the end it was almost impossible to take her off the track. It's fair to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event swapping their day jobs for a few hours to become adrenaline fuelled racing drivers."
