In the hot seat this time is John Forecast, Supplier Delivery Administrator at Science Warehouse who discusses his interests in the Yorkshire Dales, football and hockey.
1) What is your current position?
Supplier Delivery Administrator within the Delivery team.
2) Where did you study?
I studied a BSc in Zoology at the University of Leeds.
3) What are you currently working on?
Being only in my 4th week at Science Warehouse at the time of writing, I’m relatively new to it all and still learning the ropes a bit! Most of the work I am doing involves updating the live catalogue product information and prices as and when the suppliers send these through, as well as editing and uploading the image data which appears on the Science Warehouse marketplace. We are also bracing ourselves for the Universities going back and the work-load intensifying somewhat!
4) What do you like about working for Science Warehouse?
It is a very relaxed and open environment, allowing you to work in comfort and be much more productive. There are plenty of people around to direct queries at and due to the set-up of the office it is easy to communicate within and between teams. There also seems to be a real community feel to the place where everyone interacts and helps one another within a work and social context.
5) What do you like to do in your spare time?
As far as is possible I like to spend my spare time outside; from the 22nd of September, my weekends will be mostly occupied by league hockey. I also like to go walking in the Pennines/Dales and join the conservation projects run by Leeds City Council in and around the City. I am hoping that the midweek Science Warehouse five-a-side football will become a regular fixture and we can eventually join a corporate league.
6) What is your favourite car and why?
I have never really been much of a car enthusiast. My parents purchased a Ford Mondeo about 15 years ago which me and my siblings all learnt to drive in and could tell many stories of holidays, emergencies and university runs filled to the brim. It continues to defy the odds and pass its MOT each year and so still ticks along serving us loyally despite the introduction of a brand new family car a few months ago. So I guess my favourite car is that particular Blue Ford Mondeo.
7) What is on your iPod at the moment?
A question which is also so hard to answer concisely…the ever presents are bands which have been with me since my teen years like Green Day and No Doubt. About half of its capacity though is filled by the Dream Theater and Symphony X discographies, there’s so much material and variation from these bands that I never get bored of listening to them.
8) What did you think of the Paralympics?
I think the time and devotion which all the athletes put into their sport is incredibly admirable and it is great to see how much it means to them when all their endeavour pays off you see the reactions to winning the medals. The events themselves though don’t interest me as much; I am more about team sports when it comes to watching!
9) iPhone or Android?
Neither, I am a complete Luddite, my phone is a Nokia which I have had for pushing on 5 years and doesn’t have internet. Another tribute, however, to the abilities of the Nokia people to manufacture indestructible phones.
10) What are your predictions for this Premier League season?
My personal football interests lie with Norwich City who I think will find it a lot harder than last season but will do enough to survive; there are definitely 3 weaker clubs in the division. As for the title, with the signings they’ve made and Torres finding form I could see Chelsea taking advantage of the Manchester Club’s rivalry distracting them and nipping in to steal it.

I look forward to an update from John after the next round of the Capital One Cup.
